4-6-0 Class 6P Royal Scot LMS Profile and Models

Introduced in 1927, the Royal Scot was designed to fill an urgent requirement for express passenger locomotives following a focus on smaller locomotive designs in the first years of the LMS. The locomotives were heavily influenced by 4-6-0 designs being built by the GWR and SR at the time. One locomotive toured North America in 1933, assuming the identity of No.6100 "Royal Scot". All 70 'Royal Scots' were heavily rebuilt from 1943 to 1955, with their life expired Parallel boilers, cylinders and frames being replaced. Whilst no 'as built' Royal Scot locomotives survive, Nos. 46100 "Royal Scot" and 46115 "Scots Guardsman" survive in preservation. |
