East Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd. (EYMS) is the largest subsidairy of Hull based EYMS Group Ltd. and operates a fleet of approximately 350 buses and coaches throughout Hull, East Yorkshire, Scarborough and Ryedale. Coaches are operated for private hire, Day excursions and short breaks. The company also operates Express services to Leeds and York plus a number of long distance routes linking all major towns throughout the area. The company has recognised the need to move as quickly as possible tpwards providing easily accessible transport for all, whilst acknowledging that for people woth certain types of physical disability special arrangements will sometimes be required that cannot be provided by any bus operator. Since privatisation in 1987, and especially since coming under sole ownership in September 1997, it has been the Group's policy to maximise its investment into new buses in order to replace the oldest and, therefore, the least accessible buses at the fastest rate possible. In 2000 2 Dennis Tridents with Alexander bodywork were put into service in Hull, operating alongside 2 Volvo B7TLs with Plaxton bodies. A similar combination also entered service in Manchester with the EYMS Group subsidary Finglands. A further 8 Volvos with Plaxton lowheight-bodies entered service in January 2002, to be followed by 8 similar buses and 4 more Mini Pointer Darts later in 2002. East Yorkshire Motor Service celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2001.
