Hornby R2261 Class A3 4-6-2 4472 "Flying Scotsman" in LNER Green

-á For almost 35 years "Flying Scotsman" used to pull the express passenger trains for the LNER and then later British Railways. In January 1963 BR locomotive 60103, formerly 4472, was withdrawn from service. However, 'Flying Scotsman' was purchased by Mr Alan Peglar and, after an extensive refit at the Doncaster Works was returned to 'the metals' to pull special private charter services.

.-áDuring the refit, at which time the locomotive was repainted in the bright apple green of LNER, the double chimney was replaced by a single chimney and the German style smoke deflectors were removed. This Hornby model is representative of the locomotive as it appeared throughout the 1970's
