Product Description

This product features directional lighting Designed and constructed by Adtranz, Derby, the bodyshells of the Crusaris Turbostar family are assembled from welded aluminium extrusions, with bolt-on steel vehicle ends' fabrications, to meet the latest Structural Design Load requirements. The units have been designated Class 170, with suffix numbers added to this number as appropriate, which identifies the build group for a particular train-operating company. In addition to a distinctive aero-dynamically efficient cab front, these 'state of the art' DMU's feature full-length 'ribbon' glazing and power-operated sliding-plug doors. As suits their long-distance role, they are equipped with air conditioning, catering trolley facilities, LED dot-matrix passenger information displays and some have public telephones. The cars utilise Adtranz's well-proven Series 3 bogies, similar to those on their earlier Class 166, and are capable of 100mph (160 km/h) maximum speed. The Turbostars can be seen currently in service with five train-operating companies in both two- and three-car consists to each operators preference. Some vehicles are not snow-plough equipped, and this is immediately obvious by the full-depth, one piece valances under the cab fronts.
